Automotive HALT Fixture

Electromechanica, Inc. was contracted to design and build a Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) fixture for a major manufacturer of automotive components. The fixture is designed to apply a 300 pound side load on the unit under test. Pneumatic cylinders are used to generate the linear force required.

To meet the throughput requirements, this fixture can test up to nine units at one time.

Other design features include:

• Hard chrome plated wear surfaces for long life
• Gold chromate coated aluminum components
• High temperature composite polymer linear bearings

In addition, the entire fixture is designed to be mounted in the customer’s environmental chamber to subject the devices to extremes of temperature.
