The Velcro cutting fixture was designed to meet a major irrigation control company's need to quickly and easily spool and cut Velcro to two different lengths as required. Two individual spools of Velcro are brought through a v-channel which presses the hook and loop together. Two adjustable end-stop locations provide an easy way to measure the Velcro to the appropriate cut length.
The challenge the customer had was that scissors or other shearing cutters would become impossible to use due to the buildup of adhesive on the blades. Electromechanica, Inc. developed a unique solution to the problem. Our single blade cutting wheel has springs forcing it against a UHMW cutting surface and the handle rides on two channels which guide the wheel through the cutting zone. The result is a nice clean cut and greatly increased cutter life.
