Electromechanica, Inc. designed the Printed Flex Panel Testing Fixture to make reliable contact between a client's preexisting test system and a printed flex panel of biomedical sensors. The fixture is operated by one user, maintains contact between the circuit board and the flex panel throughout the testing procedures, and is easily modified for the different tests the flex panel undergoes.
Basic Functions: The fixture is a pneumatic press that connects the printed flex board to the circuit board via double ended pogo pins. The press is operated by a pneumatic circuit that is actuated by a two push buttons on the front of the fixture. The fixture utilizes a double ended pogo pin array that allows for the testing circuit board to be easily replaced with out disrupting the pin array.
Design Challenge: The major challenge in this project was aligning the pogo pin array consists with 228 points of contact that are no more than .014" wide and as close as .025" apart.
Features: The pneumatic circuit allows the fixture to operate without any complex programming or other electronic components.
