This integrated test fixture is used to measure the actuation point of a lever actuated limit switch for purposes of incoming inspection. Our client had seen a wide deviation of actuation distances on switches deployed in the field. Electromechanica was contracted to design, build, and qualify this go-no go fixture for determining whether the switches were within the necessary tolerance window. Challenges in this project were the extremely tight machining tolerances on the reference plane which were +/- 0.0005" over the length.
Electromechanica was able to achieve even better manufacturing tolerances which has allowed our client to determine switch compliance with great confidence and accuracy.
Due to the accuracy of our fixture, it was determined that temperature and actuation speed have a significant effect on the switch actuation point. Our client's urgent need for this fixture resulted in a turnaround time of one week from concept to completion. Click on pictures for a larger view.
