This piece of functional test equipment was designed to meet a large manufacturers requirement for quality control testing on their assembly line. The fixture allows the operator to test a 4x20 backlit LCD display for proper operation prior to assembling it into a product.
A custom machined Delrin guide locates the module under test to make contact with an array of Pogo pins. The system then allows the operator to flash a message onto the screen to check the proper operation of the display. The LED backlight is also illuminated during this test.
At the client's request, the system was designed to have a user selectable language display. This allows the test message to be displayed in either English or Spanish. The system is also fully reprogrammable via its standard RS-232 serial port to allow the client the flexibility to display other messages as required.
