Electromechanica, Inc. designed and built this three-part electromechanical fixture for a manufacturer of fiber optic assemblies. The mechanical parts are all attached to a laser welding system to provide precision alignment of components during the laser weld process. The base part is a self leveling table to allow a TO can to float while the fiber optic assembly is welded into place. After the self leveling occurs, a pneumatic cylinder actuates to hold the table in place during the welding process.
The upper part to the system is designed to hold the fiber bushing in place centered over the TO can during the weld process. Finally, the pneumatic control of the system is neatly routed through the manifold assembly. All valves feature LED feedback of valve condition. All precision machined aluminum parts were anodized matte black to minimize the risk of laser reflections that could be harmful to system operators. Click on pictures for a larger view.
