This system was designed for a small explosive detonation system manufacturer. The system is used by the manufacturer to test their Dynamic Delay Element (DDE) assemblies. The system allows the user to accurately measure the propagation delay of the DDE to a resolution of 100 microseconds. This testing is performed at an outdoor test facility where the equipment must be robust enough to handle rough handling, moisture and temperature extremes.
The operator interface for this system has been kept simple and neat. The panel is custom CNC laser cut and all markings are engraved. The battery was located on the front panel at the customers request to ensure it would be replaced prior to critical testing. All wiring is color coded and indicator lamps give the operator immediate feedback on the system status.
The customer required a simple yet very rugged sensor interface for this equipment. These terminal blocks are waterproof aluminum construction. The indicator lamps located on the blocks allow a visual confirmation of continuity when the operator is setting the breakwires up to the explosive charge.
Customer subsequently ordered additional units after receiving the first system.
