This manufacturing fixture was designed and built for a large irrigation control OEM. The system allows manufacturing personnel to quickly program microprocessor circuit boards for production. Electrical contact is made with the PCB using spring loaded probes which land on the edge card connectors of the board. The alignment is achieved by indexing on the edge of the circuit board. One of the design challenges of the programming fixture is that it is used for either of two different mechanical assemblies. The fixture is designed such that either PCB can be used in the same nest. The board cannot be properly seated if upside down or rotated which provides protection against improper orientation.
